Opportunities for study, thesis and internship abroad

Through the Erasmus + program and other international programs, the University of Trieste offers you the opportunity to spend from three to twelve months in a European or non-European University.
      1. Study abroad
During your stay abroad you can follow courses, take exams and obtain recognition when you come back home. The Call for Applications to obtain the scholarship and the list of host Universities and Institutions are published in the autumn. To apply you must have paid your university fees regularly. During the period abroad you can also prepare your thesis or do an internship (mixed mobility). In this case, remember to report it in the application document. You will find more details in the guidelines we have published and on the International Mobility website. To choose the location where to spend the study period, consult the description cards we have prepared.
      2. Mobility for thesis
During your stay abroad you can also write your thesis; in this case you will be followed by a professor from the University of Trieste in collaboration with a professor from the host university. When you apply for the scholarship, remember to indicate that you intend to go abroad (also) for the preparation of the thesis and discuss it with your coordinator in time.
      3. Erasmus for internship
You can also spend a period abroad to carry out an internship in a company, public or private institution, with registered office in one of the countries participating in the program. Remember that you can apply to do the internship only, or to carry out study and internship activities together. Each year there are four periods for the submission of applications. Important information:
        • Eligible activities: traineeships at institutions based in an Erasmus + program country (with the exception of EU institutions and agencies)
        • Minimum duration: 2 months (between 30 and 40 hours per week, 60 consecutive days)
        • Scholarship: € 400-500 (per month) depending on the country of destination (see details in the Call)

Erasmus students and students from foreign universities

You can find a summary of the most important information on the International Mobility website. We also recommend that you read the additional information we have published. Remember that you can also follow Italian courses that will give you 4ECTS (without a final mark). The timetables of the Italian courses and the enrollment deadlines are available on the International Mobility website.
